HELLO & HAPPY 2014!!

hi to anyone who still checks this!

i obviously realllllly suck at blogging, but i don't want to lose touch with anyone here!
[although i guess i kind of already have....]

if you have a tumblr, get at me!
i've decided to use a tumblr, mostly due to the prompting of suyin [yam] and partially because of the format of tumblr.

i feel that blogspot is more for ~real~ bloggers. people who actually post real life entries, reviews, tutorials, hauls.. and i just think i'm more suited to the PHOTO SPAM side of things.

i might use this blog again in the future, so i don't want to take it down. but i'll definitely be more active on the other side!

so! if you have a tumblr, get at me!
i'll be looking for you all and doing some follows in the next few days, weeks, months..

say hi!

S U P A P O P S !

Friday, July 13, 2012

these past few months have been such a whirlwind, i feel like it's only now that i've had time to breathe. i don't even know where to start.

last update was march? yeeesh, we have some catching up to do..

my boyfriend and i have been together for four years. [april 26, 2008!] his present to me was a new addition to the family; a precious baby turtle who i fell in love with at the pet store the day i saw him. a box turtle whom i have named pinkerton. [a weezer tribute, BUT OF COURSE.]

he is a sweet little thing who lounges in a tank at the foot of my bed and likes to stick his tongue out at me. he's grown a bit from these photos, he's got a more boxy shape now..

i'm 22 now. [may 10.]

and i lost the most important thing in my life.
this little boy right here:

my beautiful fluffy baby, zoysite. he was fifteen when he passed. a little king in his own right, i loved him more than anything i've ever loved. my favourite.

it's still hard. i still miss him and he's always on my mind. i know it was his time, but there's an emptiness that i can't really shake. although it has gotten easier with time, i just miss him. so. much.

this boy, i can't even explain. he was so, so loved. he had birthday parties, full cakes, presents for every holiday, he has photos in frames all over the house. who even develops photos anymore? we did for him.

it's been almost two months since i had to say goodbye to him. i didn't think i would cry when i wrote this but the waterworks are in full force.

sometimes i wonder why people even bother with pets. it is seriously the most heartbreaking thing in the world to lose a pet. but when i remember how much love i had in my heart for zoysite and all of the memories that we have of him, i can't regret it. he had a fulfilling life and he brought so much into my life.

since my spring classes ended, i've been working a lot. saving money for my SUMMER VACATION. hawaii part 2 happens TOMORROW and besides oahu [where we went last year], we're going to the big island too. i leave in less than fifteen hours, ahhhhh.. where does the time go?

i've been going to hot yoga to prepare myself for the heat. haha. i do NOT perspire gracefully, unfortunately.

to prepare for my trip, i've packed the following essentials. [photos coming!]

ten thousand rompers.
brown leather belts.
bathing suit cover-ups.
various sandals/wedges.
colourful patterned bras.
panties galore.

i need to finish packing.. it's about 3 AM now. oops.

makeup from yesterday. i've been wearing my bangs out of my face recently [mainly to show off these BITCHIN' earrings] and despite my ridiculous five-finger forehead, i'm kinda liking it!

ignore my fat face and take a closer look!

i am IN LOVE with these earrings. they are totally body mod-style barbell but SUPERSIZED and i don't even need an usual piercing location to wear them, HAHA. they are by rachel roy.

i think i'm going to go back and pick up the gold ones, they are just too cool.
even cooler, is that to you wear them BACKWARDS. so, you would insert them into your piercing hole with the rod going in from behind, then placing the stud in the front.

i definitely couldn't pull off the earrings with my fringe down, though. also, i NEVER wear dangly earrings. but when i saw these babies, i realized that if i left the store without them, i would regret it forever. hanging earrings, i think we may have a future together!

[please don't mind the star. i was censoring a zit.]

products i used:

these are the products i typically use on a regular day.

BB cream from daiso. i think the name on the tube says the brand is 'natural finish: born korea'. LOL.
i've never tried a bb cream before this. i know of skin79, missha, skinfood & etc, but i just never knew where to find them. i was wary of purchasing bb creams online because i didn't know what colour i would need. so when i saw this at daiso and decided to give it a try, it was $2 so i figured it couldn't hurt.

so i bought this in vancouver in the summer and i wasn't able to use it unti november because i was so tan from hawaii. HAHA. i love it, though. it's less viscous than other face products i'm used to and i feels a lot lighter. because of this, i think i'm breaking up with foundation. i need to go back to van and get more!

BENEFIT erase paste in MEDIUM
holy grail of concealers RIGHT HERE. a product that can fake 20 hours of sleep? seriously, this is magic. straight up.

MAC powder blush in MELBA [better photo here]
i have been using this colour of blush since i was thirteen years old. my mom took me to my first ever mac consultation and this was the blush the make up artist picked out for me. since then, this has been my number one purchase from mac. it my favourite mac product, hands down.

REVLON super lustrous lipstick in 001 NUDE ATTITUDE
i am totally boners out for this revlon lipstick. i picked it up on a whim when shopper's drug mart was having a sale. it was 3$! i've been looking for a good nude lip colour for a while [since i freaking LOST my viva glam gaga 2, UGH] and this colour is just amazing, especially paired with the sephora gloss [i got the gloss in a multi-pack that my mom got me for christmas, haha]. i wonder if they have full sizes..

the eyebrow pencil in 'lingering' [obviously]. it's darker than i'm used to, i'm not even exactly sure why i bought it. i have way too many eyebrow products for my own good. oh well, it was fun to try out.

besides the lashes and the brow pencil, i don't stray too far from this routine. when i want to take it further, i'll usually contour [MAC powder blush in 'blunt'] and highlight [mineralize skin finish in 'soft and gentle']. i did use a little bit of these on my face, but since the photo was taken at night, it was probably faded by that point.

when i finished my face, i couldn't get over how bitchy i looked. HAHA. i wish i had more photos, but it was definitely an interesting look for me. i didn't realize how different a shorter, more winged set of falsies, coupled with eyebrow pencil/powder could change my look so much. i haven't bleached my brows in a while, so the stronger brow really changed up my face a bit. plus the earrings.

i felt that i looked more.. mature? i don't know? maybe it's just me.

anyways, here are some gets from today! i went to the mall before school and i found more earrings, HAHA.
i got these guys at the bay. looks like the curved-insert-backwards-in-your-ear/quasi-plug style is gonna be an earring trend [unless it already is?]. i'm totally down with this.

i was gonna write more, but i'll save it. i spent too much time gushing about my earrings. haha, wow.

my lame boyfriend left for vancouver last night. ):
i miss him already. but oh well, he'll only be gone for a week.

HEY WAIT, maybe i can ask him to get me that bb cream from daiso..

but i refuse to think of my shortcomings on this blog. it's a new year, baby!

i don't think i have any resolutions. i mean, i do, but i'm afraid that i'll just jinx them by making too big of a deal out of it. i'm really bad for that. i'll say one thing and go in the complete opposite direction. so i'm not going to place too much of an emphasis on the fact that it's 2012 and that i need to be making promises of self-improvement. i'm always in a state of improvement. or, at least, i always have intentions to improve. does that make sense? whatever, ON TO LESS BORING THINGS.

actually, one goal that i will mention is my intention to normalize my sleep schedule. it's becoming a problem. on a normal night i won't get to bed until about 4 AM and wake up at 11 AM. i need to get a better handle of this, and get into a healthy routine with my sleep. resolution or not, this is something that HAS to happen.

i've started school now. first week in. it's already feeling heavy, but i'm experiencing the well-known early semester feelings of excitement and dread. fellow students, HOLLA AT ME.

did i say on to less boring things? haha, i lied.

taken immediately after my appointment. SO MANY LASHES.

last friday i had an appointment for eyelash extensions. my friend is the manager of a salon/spa and she booked me in for a promotion they were having for mink lash extensions back in october. i kept having to postpone my appointment because of silly life commitments so i couldn't even reschedule until january. HAHA.

according to them, the process takes about two hours. i decided to go in for january as a kind of late christmas present to myself. i had been wanting to try eyelash extensions for the longest time. the reason they were so appealing to me was because i've had friends that had them before and i liked the length and definition of them. also, i'm too lazy to put on falsies everyday.

i went in for my appointment at noon and proceeded to lay on the table they had set up. she asked me what length of lashes i wanted. there were two different lengths. i chose the longer length. she told me that they would be very dramatic and that they would get in the way if i wore glasses. since i don't wear glasses regularly, but i still wear falsies semi-regularly [which is why am used to a 'dramatic' lash], i still opted for the longer ones.

the technician cleaned my eyelashes then applied a piece of tape to the underside of each of my eyes [to protect my lower lid/lashes].

right away she began to apply the extensions one by one. it felt weird. not painful or irritating, but just slightly uncomfortable. apparently people fall asleep during their appointments, but i couldn't because i was totally conscious of the weird sensation of her gluing the eyelash extensions on the whole time.

when she was finished, she asked me to open my eyes. it was difficult for me to do. i felt a stinging sensation each time i tried, and it hurt. it took me a while to actually will myself into opening my eyes. they were watering like crazy. the technician wiped up the area around my eyes. i think it was due to the type of glue they used. i don't know if this is a regular thing for those who have had eyelash extensions before, it did bother me for a bit. immediately i regretted getting them and i felt paranoid that the stinging sensation wouldn't go away.

it did eventually, though. but when i did see them for the first time, i loved them. they were so long and so lush. my only gripe is that it felt like the curl started so low. which i think is just how eyelash extensions look. i didn't know what i was expecting, but they just felt oddly-placed. i guess i'm just used to the tips of my lashes touching my eyebrows, LOL.

it's only been about a week since i've gotten my eyelash extensions. and although they're supposed to last about 3-4 weeks, i feel like mine are half gone. i did love them initially, but now i'm a bit disappointed in them. they are nice to have short-term, but they are difficult to maintain. also, i'm the laziest person in the world, so i probably could've taken better care of them but didn't. for example, i never bothered to comb them out when they were getting crooked, or use a heated lash curler on them. despite the fact that i am pretty careful with them.

uneven amount of lashes, weird curl formation and sparse areas. makes me sad, man.

also, showering or washing my face with them is a PAIN IN THE ASS. honestly, it's inevitable to have water drip down your face in the shower [even when not facing the stream] and not being able to wipe the water away or rub my eyes was THE WORST. i would end up trying to blink it away which would lead to more water getting in my eyes and after the end of every shower, i would have bloodshot eyes because i was unable to do anything about the water. it was so bad that my boyfriend asked me a couple of times if i was high. ugh.

also, i had the huge irritating issue of the end lashes twisting upon themselves. sometimes i'd get them pointing downward or in awkward angles and it was just so difficult to get them back in line with the other lashes. and many times, i would have some fall out [or get pulled out] when i would try to fix them.

an example of the lash twisting downward. ):

what i did like about them, was the fact that i didn't need to wear any makeup. i mainly didn't bother with makeup because it was difficult to remove when i did [plus, it restricted the types of makeups i could use.. such as cream eyeshadows or waterproof eyeliners/mascaras], but also because having the extensions created a thicker-looking upper lash line.. which in turn made it look sort of like i was wearing eyeliner [or it at least defined my eye a bit more]. these reasons, coupled with a new skincare regime i've been trying out [hopefully to be featured in a future post] have accounted for the fact that i have barely worn any makeup at all this month and will continue to for the rest of january. haha, no makeup january, it doesn't have the same ring as 'no-shave november' [movember], but it works.

so i guess i'm saying that the eyelash extensions are to thank for the break my skin is getting? HAHA, i have no idea.

my final verdict;

would i get them again? no.

of course, i say that now but will probably jump at the next promotion i see, depending on how much time has passed since then and if i forget how annoying they are to maintain. i say, if you're anal enough and can deal with all the little inconveniences that come with having eyelash extensions, by all means, GO FOR IT. as for me? i don't think they're my jam. i did like the look for a while, but i felt quite limited as to what i was able to do with my makeup, what products i could use, etc. i'll stick to my falsies. when i actually decide to wear them, that is.

to any remaining readers i may have; thanks for sticking with this blog. i know i'm terrible with the whole, regular updating thing, but i do appreciate anyone who checks this thing out. even if you're just passing through. thanks for visiting and to any followers, thanks for your support!

hopefully the next one will be up soon,

ciao babies!

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

i'm happy to say that things have definitely warmed up in this little city of mine.

as i type, the sun is shining with a bit of a cool breeze. but i am infinitely thankful for this weather and so happy to see that almost all the snow in my area has melted.

it was perfect timing for my anniversary, too!

my anniversary with horsie was last tuesday, the 26th. unfortunately, we didn't really get to celebrate the day of because i had a final exam the very next morning. D; eff you, school.

BUT! we did get to make up for it this past weekend.

for lunch, we went out for pho.
went to one of the hipster avenues for some shopping and toys. [where i got a pair of those glasses-that-are-purely-for-aesthetic-purposes-and-don't-aid-with-vision-correction-in-any-way-shape-or-form and a cute little ring. pony picked up a domo vinyl which i think will soon become a permanent fixture in his car.]

then for supper, we had sushi. LOL.

then we hit up the arcade and played a LOT of racing games, shooting games and skeeball. then experienced some fail purikura. took some camera phone photos instead. then rented harry potter 7 and went out AGAIN for bubble tea.

HAHA. it was a very fattening day.

my past week has been consumed with studying [lol, not really] and THE TUDORS.

oh. my. god. i am obsessed with this series. my coworker lent all four seasons to me on dvd a couple weeks back, but i wasn't able to watch them while school was happening. UNTIL NOW.

since i'm on break for finals, the last few nights i was staying up until impossible hours trying to finish all the episodes on the discs. it's unhealthy, but this is rare for me.

ANYWAYS, here's a suggestion; if you dig period dramas and don't mind slight departures from historical accuracy, i highly recommend you check this series out. also, everyone in this series is beautiful. it's like the casting team went out of their way to cast the prettiest people they could find. seriously.

the other day i went out with ling. AGAIN. hahaha. this has become somewhat of a weekly thing now. i don't even have the money for all these shopping trips, but we do it anyways.

we went out for bubble tea too, lololol.
i think the cafe owner is getting tired of seeing my face every other day.

some buys;

[because there's some otherworldly force that prevents me from going out and NOT coming home with one-or four-pairs of false lashes..]

one interesting thing to note about these lashes [style: elegant, 10$ at sephora] is that they're pretty similar to MAC #7 or ardell demi 102. the only real difference, i think is that they're a lot shorter. but oh well, it's a pretty good dupe, i think. i'd still go for the ardells, though. because those are like 6$ compared to sephora's 10$ version. WEW.

i also bought some clothes, but they aren't photographed. will do that soon.

so, today's guilty pleasure [in audio form] has been out for a while, but i've only just given this song a real listen probably like, an hour ago;

i can't believe how much i've been listening to this. haha.

that's the one thing about having a bff that's a few years younger than you. i've been exposed to facets of pop culture that i typically wouldn't even have given a second thought about. ling's given me a real ~teeny-bopper~ perspective on a lot of things, from shopping and trends, to movies and music.

and against my higher conscience, i find myself enjoying it. it's terrifying and refreshing at the same time. and DAMN, this makes me sound old.

and i know i'm the furthest thing from mature, so maybe i shouldn't even be saying anything!

..but you know, it might just be the fact that my birthday is coming up.
i didn't even realize it until i went on a trip to sephora and i got this;

[LOL, no.. not everything. just on the left; philosophy 'happy birthday beautiful' body wash/shower gel/shampoo. it's vanilla cake-scented!]

hahaha. i'm more anxious than anything. this year marks when i will be TWENTY-FREAKING-ONE YEARS OLD. a legit adult, and globally legal.

the last part sounds exciting, but everything else? NO, NOT SO MUCH.
being an adult, ew. in canada, i've technically been an adult for two years now, but it still grosses me out. responsibility and shit? NAH, MAN. i don't want to think about those things! i just want to blog about makeup all day.

but whatever. i won't be a real, living, breathing adult until next tuesday anyways! so i'll save all the anxiety for that day. maybe even get some celebrations in effect before then. might as well, since i haven't gotten together with my hombres in HOW LONG.

and speaking of hombres..
tonight lingsies is coming with me to sunsies' first spring league hockey game. YAY. i know he'll be happy to have an extra cheerleader for his team. :D

i'ma go pick her up so that we can fit in some pre-hockey shopping..!

do you realize what this means?

i got these done on tuesday. literally the DAY after my last clinical shift.
i called mama-in-law first thing and pretty much ran to the salon. HAHA.
she said she wanted to try something new and MAN, you do not realize how much i missed fake nails!

this is my first time getting sparkly glitter tips! i usually get pearlescent tips, but wow.. how long has it been? i think at least four months? my nails were SO UGLY. i was so happy to see my boyfriend's mom that day. 8D

so last night it snowed like a bastard.

so much for spring. it was literally shorts-wearing weather the day before!
wtf, i hate this city. D:<

anyways, back to nailchat.
i've pretty much forgotten how to type/text/functions since getting them but IT'S WORTH IT. i have to file them a bit, though.

when i have to get these filled, i will play with all the new nail polishes i bought. YAY, I'M SO HAPPY TO HAVE NAILS AGAIN. until fall semester rolls around, that is.

this morning i had to be up at basically the crack of dawn just to get to school on time. last night we had a freak snowstorm and now all my dreams of sunshine and spring are dead and buried. D;

these photos are from yesterday, when i decided to play with my new makeup.

haha, i look dead and confused.
i was lazy and decided to forgo the falsies in favour of trying my new clinique eyelash primer.

i don't think you can even see my natural lashes in the next photo. oh well.

also, after my last entry i realized that i should try curling my hair again. here, it doesn't look so bad, but it was absolute shit later on in the day.
haha, wtf are with my hearts? SHIT, I'M TIRED.

hahaha. i have a weird profile [and a messy foyer], but i wanted to show the lack of falsies. i was really impressed by the staying power of my primer and mascara combo. i mean, it actually held a curl. THIS NEVER HAPPENS.

here's one from today.
actually, i take back my 'dead and confused' comment from before and apply it to this picture instead:

this was grumpy me this morning. as you can see, i was like FUCK MAKEUP and i don't have any concealer to save me.

man, i don't even know why i decided to post right now. i feel like it's past my bedtime.. hahahahaha, fuuuuuuu-
eh, this was a lazy entry. haha.

BUT! this week is the last week of winter semester!
finals next week, but i'll still have a bit of free time.
i'm going to play with all my spoils, haha.

expect some updates in the next few days. :'D
